Public libraries are required by Montana law to be governed by a board of trustees, specifically, this requirement and the boards’ responsibilities are spelled out in the Montana Code Annotated, 22-1-308.
The Board of Trustees provides governance for the West Yellowstone Public Library by:
- Establishing policy
- Setting goals
- Hiring the Library Director
- Establishing and monitoring the annual budget
- Signing necessary contracts
The Board of Trustees usually meets every other month. These meetings are open to the public; however, please contact the library director if you want an item added to the agenda. For the exact dates and times of the Library Board of Trustee meetings, please see the Library Calendar for details.
