
- Residents of Gallatin County MT qualify for a free library card.
- Residents of Island Park, ID and select areas within Yellowstone National Park qualify for a library card with a fee of $10 per year. See staff members for qualifying areas of Yellowstone.
- West Yellowstone Public Library accepts cash only as payment.
To receive a card, you must provide:
- A valid, government-issued driver’s license, identification card, or passport.
- Proof of physical address
- Such as: utility bill, driver’s licenses, rental/lease agreements, employment contracts, paychecks/stubs, informational letters from employers, etc. Acceptance of any document provided is at the discretion of the library staff.
Important Information:
- All new patrons will be issued a “temporary card.” This card is valid for four months and allows you to check out three (3) items at a time. After four months, library cards in good standing may be changed to permanent with full privileges.
- The West Yellowstone Public Library card grants you access to our eLibrary, MTLibrary2Go, on Libby. In addition, your card will also be accepted at any major library in Gallatin County.
- Patrons under the age of 12 must have a parent or guardian present in the library to show their photo ID and proof of residency. The parent or guardian must sign the child’s card and is responsible for all items checked out on the card.
- Patrons over the age of 12 must have their own photo ID and physical street address verification or be accompanied by a parent or guardian who must show their photo ID and proof of residence. The parent or guardian as well as the cardholder will then have full access to the account.
